Council Member Robert Ming was elected to the Laguna Niguel City Council in November 2006. Before joining the Council, Robert served the community on a variety of commissions, committees and boards including: the Laguna Niguel Planning Commission, the Laguna Niguel Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee and Government Affairs Committee, where he served as Chair; and as a Member of the Board of Managers of the South Coast YMCA.
As a Council Member, Robert believes it is essential that the City remain responsive to the needs and desires of its residents. By providing accountability and oversight on fiscal matters, building a community center we can all use and be proud of, bringing new life and vitality to the Gateway area and maintaining close contact with the community, Robert looks to preserve and enhance all the City has to offer. |

Currently, Robert serves on the Board of Directors of the Orange County Division of the California League of Cities, as Past-President of the Laguna Niguel Rotary Club, a Member of the Board of Stoneybrooke Christian Schools and a Member of the Board of the Bonner Institute for the Advancement of Choral Music. Robert is also a Past President of the Laguna Niguel Lions Club.
Born and raised in Orange County, Robert received his BA in Political Science from Azusa Pacific University, where he graduated as Most Outstanding Political Science Student, and received his JD from Pepperdine University School of Law, where he graduated Valedictorian. While in law school, Robert served as an extern for Justice Armand Arabian at the California Supreme Court, a Research Assistant for then United States Solicitor General Kenneth Starr, and a law clerk for Judge Lance Ito during the OJ Simpson trial.
Robert is presently a Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel at Jefferies & Company, Inc., an international brokerage and investment-banking firm. He and his wife Susie have been married for 17 years and have three children, Jonathan, Katie and Wesley. In his free time, Robert has been a Y-Indian Guide and Indian Princess Chief, AYSO Soccer Referee, and church Music Director.
